LES POÈTES POP
Les Poètes Pop surfaced above COVID19 and formed by an accidental meeting in a dive bar in Newcastle, Australia. Instigated by the flowing modern folk storytelling poetry of Gary Seeger, and his drive to tell these stories with a soundtrack. Poetry and music blending together with haunting melodies and the occasional chaos. A mix of twisted lyrics, harmonies and crashing cymbals, a rollicking yet pounding bassline, layered by angular destructive guitars that fuck up the songs beautifully. There’s an intensity to this band that is unlike others. A lively bunch of lively characters, who put on a hell of a live show leaving the audience slightly confused, slightly turned on, and slightly scared. Think Grinderman/old-Bad Seeds, The Walkmen, Beasts Of Bourbon, with the quirk of Television or Velvet Underground or Brian Jonestown Massacre.
