MYLEE GRACE

saxophone with eyes and music notes

Sydney born, Northern Rivers based, Mylee Grace makes music that's been described as feeling "like you're on holidays with friends"—sunshine sweet and beatdown gutter-street all at the same time. A sound that triumphs over the ordinary. Joy and melancholy are her playthings as she moves between meaning and mayhem, poetry and pandemonium, life learnings and shed skins.
Grace's troupe are her revolving musical friends and family, with whom she has defined a sound of alternative country anti-folk rock and roll. To enter their world is to feel the music at full force.
Born to music—her mother is recording artist Maria Stratton (AKA Panda)— Mylee was writing and recording original songs long before she could make her own school lunches. In 2003, her unreleased track "Thesaurus Rex" became FBI Radio's test drive song before the station launched, playing on repeat for over a month.
Her debut EP Baby Talk (2010) became a feel-good hit of Sydney's summer. In 2013, she released Mylee Grace and Ozzy Wrong Songs before relocating to Byron Bay in 2015.
Her debut solo album "Whiplash In The Moshpit" (Love Police Records And Tapes) was recorded in 2022 in a cabin in the Byron hinterland, co-produced by King Gizzard's live sound engineer and Family Jordan guitarist Sam Joseph, who also plays across the record. Guests include her mother Maria Stratton, Miles Myjavec (Babe Rainbow), and Fiona Franklin. Off the album, Grace and her band have played Splendour In The Grass, Nine Lives Festival, Boogie Festival, toured with Izzi Manfredi, and supported Jen Cloher, Sylvie, and Warpaint.
