A MAN CALLED STU
A Man Called Stu (aka Stu Hibberd) is a darkly charismatic singer with a“swampy-tonk” sound : film noir meets classic country in a lowdown cowboy serenade. Born way too late, he draws inspiration from b-grade flicks, honkytonk and exotica records, a dash of punk rock, Lee Hazlewood and love of vintage music gear Stu emerged from Sydney’s live scene in the early 2000's with his band Zombie Ghost Train. Blending rockabilly/roots music with punk rock, the trio achieved cult status touring throughout the world. Based in Nashville, USA for the last decade, Stu has worked with the likes of Sierra Ferrell and Grammy winner Gary Paczosa (Dolly Parton, Alison Krauss, Gillian Welch). The Nashville Scene described Stu’s sound as “sort of like a dream collaboration between Nick Cave and Bob Wills”.
