Pairing watertight harmonies with a knack for a story, Small Town Romance blend country, honky tonk, folk, tex-mex and roots influences to create a sound that is uniquely their own. Flora's uncanny ear for melody and Jim's innate poeticism make for an intoxicating combination. Small Town Romance know their way around a classic country song but like make no apologies for speaking in an Australian voice.
With two CMAA golden guitar nominations, a Music Victoria nomination and a slew of high profile festivals and supports already under their belt, STR are proudly carrying on the incredible musical legacy of Jim’s mother Anne Kirkpatrick and grandparents Slim Dusty and Joy McKean.
In 2023 Small Town Romance released Home Fires and Cut & Run, the first two singles off their sophomore album due out in Spring 2024. A sonically luxurious country-soul exploration followed by a tex-mex, tongue in cheek portrait of a pants man on the lam. With these two singles, we get a glimpse of what is to come from STR, and it is as exciting as it is ambitious.
